Quondam Village residents enjoyed a wonderful and informative talk by Lorna Quinn a Registered Counsellor. Lorna spoke about two important documents — the Advanced Medical Directive and the Living Will — and shared some heartfelt insights on assisted living and knowing when it might be time to consider extra support.
Lorna explained that an Advanced Medical Directive helps you outline your wishes for future medical care and allows you to appoint someone you trust to make decisions on your behalf if needed. The Living Will, she added, focuses on end-of-life choices such as life support or comfort care, and ensures your wishes are known and respected.
She also encouraged residents to think about assisted living as a positive step when care needs increase — not as a loss of independence, but as a way to stay safe and supported.
Lorna’s message was clear and reassuring: planning ahead gives both peace of mind and dignity, helping us move through life’s stages with confidence and care.
