Born and raised in Duduza Nigel as one of six children, Sr Flora began her professional life in banking, and after a decade at Permanent Bank and Nedbank her life took a different path.
In 2006 when her mother suffered a stroke, Flora became her primary carer — an experience that awakened a deeper calling. “It was during that time I realised nursing was not just a passion, but my purpose,” she reflects.
After her mother’s passing, Flora formally entered the healthcare field, training at ESDA Frail Care Centre and later completing her nursing diploma at Lungile Nursing College. Sr Flora has since dedicated her career to caring for the elderly, including five years at Rand Aid.
Sr Flora’s strength lies in empathy, patience, and teamwork. “I believe in treating every person with love, dignity and compassion,” she says.
“To care for someone, you must first listen. Then, you educate, support, and empower them to live fully.” says Sr Flora, with patience, tolerance, calmness and respect she aims to ensure our residents have the best care.
Some advice from Sr Flora, healthy meals are essential, keep active and take any prescribed medication.
