Gent’s Lunch – June 2025

In the spirit of connection, camaraderie, and an early Father’s Day celebration, the gentlemen of Quondam Retirement Village recently gathered for what was the start of their monthly Gent’s Lunch.

Held at the picturesque Glendower Golf Club, the lunch brought together eight of our residents — Frank Texeira, Cliff Tottle, Bruno Ganter, Barry Ireland, Dave Knowles, Mike Froy, Geoff Mowatt, and Len Dockray.

More than just a shared meal, these get-togethers will offer a meaningful opportunity to connect, laugh, and support each other — something research shows greatly benefits both mental and physical wellbeing.

The idea originally began back in 2019, thanks to Frank and Paul, but like many things, it was paused due to Covid. Now, it’s back and stronger than ever, with the group keen to make it a regular event. Based on the enthusiastic feedback—”When’s the next one?”—the next lunch is already locked in for 2nd July, again at Glendower Golf Club. The familiar venue ensures accessibility for those who missed out this time.

What do the men enjoy most? According to them, it’s the relaxed outdoor setting, the chance to chat freely, and of course, the good food and refreshments.

As one attendee put it: “It’s just good to be together.” And while the photos might not win awards, the joy on their faces certainly did.
